from Amazon to national retail.
I’ve been a pimple-faced teenager. Hell, I’ve been an “elder” millennial who woke up to a raging zit the morning of an important meeting. I won’t say that experience makes me uniquely suited to writing for one of Amazon’s leading pimple patch brands, but it sure didn’t hurt.
My work with Dots for Spots started with the goal of bringing a leading product in the UK to the US market on Amazon, and culminated with art direction for new launches and management of creative production for retail launches.
Between long meetings about claims substantiation and deep research to tie every word to a proven outcome, I also worked closely with packaging designers, sourcing teams, chemistry experts, and product photographers to ensure we hit shelves without a blemish (This is the only shameless pun on the page, I promise).
The challenge.
Translate what complex ingredients actually do — for K-beauty skincare addicts, parents of teens, and young adults alike — in as few characters as possible. Then get the work produced, photographed, and ready for retail and ecommerce.

Dots for Spot Hearts
As part of our retail launch strategy, competing with Starface and Hero patches meant hitting the shelves with more color and fun. With legacy packaging that hadn’t changed in years and a voice that predated gen alpha, my goal with the “hearts” launch (planned to hit shelves around Valentines day), was to lean into a young and confident voice that addresses the problem with a real, simple solution.
Product Detail Pages
Using the updated voice and copy from our new product packaging — I worked with our production agency to capture new images that seamlessly fit into our brand guidelines. One design brief later — we were ready with creative assets for Amazon, CVS, and beyond.
